UTP cables have two standards namely, Straight-Through type and Crossover type. There are two international standards for the order of UTP cables (T-568A and T-568B). We provide some tips for how to install UTP cables quickly, well and correctly.
Tip 1
To peel the protective skin on the UTP cable, a tool called a cable striper is used, the thing to note when peeling the protective skin of the cable is to make sure the cable enters the cutter perfectly and then rotate slowly to start peeling the protective skin of the cable.
Because if the cable does not enter the cutter perfectly, some of the cable's protective skin is not completely peeled off. And if we turn the cutter too hard, some of the inside of the cable will also be cut.
Tip 2
Separate the visible small cables and arrange them in the order of the colour standard according to the standard used. After arranging in the specified order, cut flat and trim the ends of the small cables.
At this stage levelling the end of the cable is very important, this is done so that the entire cable can be pinched perfectly on each pin when we crimp the cable. If the end of the cable is not tidied up then when crimping there will be some cables that have not been pinched on the pin. So at this stage a small tool is used to tidy up the end of the cable.
Tip 3
Before crimping make sure first whether the cables are in order and have been tidied up. Make sure the cable protector is also pinched in the RJ45 cavity because by pinching the LAN cable in RJ45, the cable will not be easily separated so that the stability of the connection will be maintained.
Then use crimping pliers to clamp and push the pin at the end of the RJ45, making sure that all RJ45 pins pierce the utp cable properly.
A. Standard UTP (Straight-Through)

This cable installation in one cable uses only one standard. If using T-568B then both ends use T-568B, and vice versa. Here's how to install a straight type UTP cable.
Prepare equipment and materials such as enough UTP cables, 2 RJ45 connectors, Crimping Tool, Scissors and LAN tester.
Cut the cable as needed.
Peel off the protective jacket on the cable approximately 2 cm.
Separate the twists on the cable according to the colour.
Sort according to the existing standardisation (T-56B).
Cut evenly if the cable has been sorted, leaving about 1.5 cm.
Insert the UTP cable into the RJ45 connector. Make sure the cable sequence is correct, the protective jacket enters the RJ45 and all cables have entered completely until they touch the base of the RJ45.
Crimp the RJ45 connector and the cable with crimping pliers.
Do this at the other end. Use a cable tester to test the cable connection.
The UTP (Straight-Through) cable is ready for use.
B. UTP Cross (Crossover)

Prepare equipment and materials such as enough UTP cables, 2 RJ45 connectors, Crimping tool, scissors and LAN tester.
Cut the cable as needed.
Peel off the protective jacket on the cable approximately 2 cm.
Separate the twists on the cable according to the colour.
Sort according to the existing standardisation (T-56A and T-56B).
Cut evenly if the cable has been sorted, leaving about 1.5 cm.
Insert the UTP cable into the RJ45 connector. Make sure the cable sequence is correct, the protective jacket goes into the RJ45 and all the cables have entered completely until they touch the base of the RJ45.
Crimp the RJ45 connector and the cable with crimping pliers.
Do this at the other end. Use a cable tester to test the cable connection.
The UTP (Crossover) cable is ready to use.
Test the cable using a LAN Tester
When you want to test the cable using a LAN Tester, make sure the UTP cable is installed correctly. Whether it's a straight type cable or a cross type. If it feels right, continue by testing both UTP cables (straight and cross).
Straight Cable
After trying to use the LAN Tester, the indicator lights will run in the following order: 1-1,2-2,3-3,4-4,5-5,6-6,7-7,8-8.
Because both sides of the cable are arranged in the same order and in accordance with the standard wiring colours, namely white orange, orange, white green, blue, white blue, green, white brown, brown.
Cross cable
After trying to use the LAN Tester, the indicator lights will run in the order of: 1-3,2-6,3-1,4-4,5-5,6-2,7-7,8-8.
Because both sides of the cable are arranged differently but in accordance with the standard cross type wiring colours, namely white orange, orange, white green, blue, white blue, green and white brown, brown. And the other side is white green, green, white orange, blue, white blue, orange, white brown, brown.
