In one office there is usually a printer for printing purposes. But not infrequently the number of computer units with the number of printers is not balanced so that to print must pass files from one computer to another to be able to print. There is an easier way that is sharing a printer on a local LAN network.
To be able to share a printer with one printer for all computers we only need one computer unit as administrator/master and the other as a client. The advantage obtained with this printer share is that the company can save on the use of excess printers and save space so that it does not become cramped.
Share Printer With One Network
In this tutorial, the system that the admin uses is windows XP, but all versions of windows are essentially the same settings and only differ in terms of appearance. So please adjust.
1. Compare workgroups on master PCs and client PCs.
To be able to share printers on one network, the first step is to equalize the workgroup between the master PC and the client PC. it's very easy to do, right-click on my Computer. Then select the Computer Name tab, and look at the workgroup in the workgroup section. The choice is yours whether to change or stay in the default workgroup.
2. After the workgroup between the client and the master is the same,
then let's set the settings on the master computer first. Open Control Panel and search for Devices and Printers.Well here you will see the printer that was installed before, remember that now we are on the master PC where the printer is connected. Then right click on the printer and select Sharing to be used on other computers connected to a network.
3. Next you will see the printer properties window,
select Sharing Properties, then click the share this printer option and type the name of the printer you want to display on the client computer later and click OK. If this is the first time you set about sharing there will be a notification window and you can select "Just enable file sharing and printer sharing".
Well enough already settings that we do on the master computer. Easy isn't it ? to remind the steps first set up a workgroup or remember the client computer workgroup, then enable printer sharing in control panel.
4. Now we move on to the client computer or other computer that you want to enable printer sharing.
Open the Control Panel and search for Devices and Printers. Once open on the left side of the control panel page you will see several commands and select add a printer.
after you click add a printer, a new window will appear in the form of a printer wizard, well here we will connect the master printer with the client printer. Click Next and select a network printer or a printer attached to another computer. Don't make the mistake of choosing Yes. and you click Next again.
The last stage to be able to connect the printer to another computer is at this stage. Here you find 3 options::
Browse for a printer
Connect to this printer
Connect to a printer on the internet.
And Voila, the printer can already be connected between the same network but different computers. Easy enough openings. This method you can do on any brand printer, ranging from HP printers, EPSON printers, Canon printers of any series.
